Default driveshaft problem maybe???

Hey all,

I'm sure this has been covered here many times but i did a search and couldn't really find anything...
Anyway I have a 91 CR-X SiR and I'm getting a thumping noise and vibration at say 100 km/h onwards. Only really happens under acceleration.
It's not wheel balancing (I wish) and I had it inspected by the tuning factory guys about 10 months ago and they found nothing really. One of the shafts was slightly bent but not enough to cause a problem they reckon.
It's also intermittent. can go for months with no problem and then back for a while, car is used daily 500 kms a week and the odd trackday
I'm not that mechanically gifted so any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
thanks[^]

Check the inner CV joint the bearings are known to collapse in these happened to my CRX years ago and Stephen K just found them gone in his last week. Its the exact symptoms mine had.

Ya, inner bearings.
Is the car lowered a lot?? That's what kills them, as they allow for different lengths of the drive shafts, as suspension travels upwards and downwards. Lowering the suspension, does not directly cause them to fail, but soft dampers, usually stock, contribute to failure also.

Nope not lowered, pretty original standard car. Looked like a monster truck parked beside stephen k's crx at a trackday last year.

Thanks for all the replies lads.
What baffles me is the way it comes and goes. Tramped all the way to work this afternoon and then coming back tonight it was very smooth at all speeds even driven hard!

Apologies for all the questions...
Where would you guys go for the relevant parts? Honda? Internet?
And if anyone has any recommendations for someone to do the work that would be cool. I'm based in Dubland.
