Default earthing wires

Hi,
Would jumper lead cable be suitable as a replacement for the earthing wires under the bonnet?
I have some nice good quality jumper cable that i was thinking of putting in.
My question really is, is there a optimum guage of wire recommended?
Thanks
James

As in the cable used for jump leads? If so it would be a bit thick & bulky but you could use it if you wanted. Car earthing wries does not need to be that a thick the most important thing is that the contact area is clean & rust free so there can be a good connection.Im not great with the gauge sizes as its all mm sizes I deal with.

8 AWG wire seems to be the recommended gauge for earth wires. 8 AWG translates to 8-8.5 mm squared or 3.25 diameter.
